Celebrate George 2025

This past weekend we started our celebration of the country’s 250th anniversary. The plan was to include a reenactment of George Washington’s walk through Wallingford from the Town Hall to the Royce House at 538 North Main Street tracing the June 1775 visit to buy gunpowder and interact with Wallingford residents. The battles of Lexington, Concord and Bunker Hill had just taken place. Washington was traveling from Philadelphia to Boston to take command of the Continental Army. Due to another rainy Saturday, all festivities were at the Town Hall. Thank you to our actors: George Washington played by William W. Dickinson, Jr., Caleb Atwater played by Jonathan Judd, Jeremiah Carrington played by Scott Adkins, Oliver Stanley played by Vincent Cervoni, Captain James Royce played by Charles Royce, Major Samuel Griffin played by Ed Zavaski and Major Thomas Mifflin played by Tom Laffin. Thank you to Wallingford Elks Club Lodge #1365, Alison Cady and Deighna DeRiu of Choate Rosemary Hall, the Second Company Governor's Foot Guard, the Wallingford Historical Society, Wallingford Police and Public Works, Tom Caneschi and Wallingford Government Television Southern Connecticut University Costume Department and the Susan Carrington Clarke Chapter of the DAR. Committee members Robert Beaumont, Robert Devaney, Roz Gallegher, Marc Lendler and Jerry Farrell, Jr..
